The Musica Silvestra Orchestra (MSO) is the student symphony orchestra of Enschede. Twice a year, MSO prepares a concert programme with a couple of concerts as result. The MSO is conducted by the enthousiastic Hanrich Claassen. The orchestra mainly consists of students and employees of the University of Twente, Saxion and ArtEZ, but everybody can be a member!
We rehearse every Monday evening from 19:30 until 22:00 in the Agora of the Vrijhof, which is located on the campus of the University of Twente. After rehearsals, most members stay a little longer to drink something in the Theatercafé of the Vrijhof or the Vestingbar. Next to the weekly rehearsals, we organize an external rehearsal weekend during each programme. During this weekend not only the quality of our playing is increased, it is also a lot of fun and a great way for the members to get to know each other better.
The concerts of MSO do not only take place in Enschede or at the Campus of the UT. In recent years the MSO has performed in cities and villages like Hengelo, Haaksbergen and Lonneker. The MSO can also be witnessed outside the Netherlands. In the past, we made international concert trips to Krakow (2013), Glasgow (2015) and Copenhagen (2023).
